Full home, Hyde Park

A 1970s split-level house with good bones, a dark centre and a layout that had been extended twice without a plan. The owners had lived in it for nine years and knew exactly which walls they wanted gone.

We opened the ground floor into a single living, dining and kitchen volume, rebuilt the staircase in blackened steel and walnut, and replaced every service in the house down to the distribution board and water main.

Finishes are honed marble, oiled walnut joinery and steel window frames matched to the originals at the front elevation. The house was empty for the duration, which let us run three trades concurrently and pull four weeks out of the programme.
